On Vacation... Again!
It seems that George W. and the GOP believe in a lot of vacation time. Although the entire congress has only worked about 30 days since the beginning of the year, they are taking yet another vacation. It seems to me that the there is enough work to be done, plenty of problems left unaddressed, etc. A reasonable person can see giving our congress critters a few extra days off around Easter and Passover to facilitate religious celebration and observation, but a week before and a week after is a bit offensive... especially when you consider that the average worker does not get any days off for either Easter, Passover or Ramadan (when it occurs)... and that the average worker has already worked over 60 full days (many working 10-14 hour days, just like congress)... and that the base pay for a congress critter is $203,000 plus benefits, expense allowances, staffing allowanbces, franking privileges, and time specifically allotted for being present in their district... and that there is so much left undone in this current session of congress.
Here is this week's congressional schedule. It will be repeated next week in the exact same manner.
