Microcosmic Preview Of The Next Major Election

In a Fight Against the 'Governator,' California Democrats Lack a Superhero

The article identifies that the Dems have not been able to field an effective candidate to fend off the current governor, Arnold "Governator" Schwarzenegger, whose turn at the reins of California's government has not been without its share of failures and controversies. The problem I see is that the DNC hasn't gotten its act together to fashion a field of candidates that can fend off the Republicans in 2008. Unlike the DNC leadership, I think the time to field effective candidates is NOW! But what we have running in the field is Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Hilary Rodham Clinton, John Kerry, John Edwards, Nancy Pelosi, Evan Bayh, Al Gore, Russell Feingold, Charles Schumer, Tim Kaine and Wesley Clark. None of these folks inspire confidence from my view of the world. On top of that, John "Jeb" Bush, complete with all the money and influence that the Bush family possesses, is gearing up to run. While I think there is enough animosity toward the Bush family at the moment, we tend not to hold the entire family accountable for errors of one brother or father. The Bush family still has a hell of a lot of influence. Even if Jeb decides not to run, you can guarantee that we will see him in the federal government somewhere in the next Republican administration.... Hopefully that won't be the next administration.

But the DNC is not paying attention and Howard Dean is not doing the job.
